INTACT är en heavy sounding groove metal-kvintett från Estland och Finland, och SwedenMetal  har lyckats få en intervju (på engelska) med vokalisten  Madis "Mad" Velström, som tillsammans med brödraskapet Intact förnärvarande befinner sig på sin "Skullsplitting Trip"...

I first Heard of the band Intact when you were part of the Methaneian "signed in blood" tour in Eastern europe. How come? Did you became a part of their tour, or did they became a part of your "Skull Split" tour?

- It’s great that You did hear of us! Metalheads are brothers so we help each ohter out. Intact helped Methane and Stonesoul from Finland to play some gigs in Estonia and in return Methane and Stonesoul throw few parties at their countries where Intact can also shred, drink and bang some head.

 Members in the band Intact resides in both Finland and Estonia as far I am concerned, How do yu combine that?

- Yeah, I (Mad, Intact’s main vocals) met Juuso at a MC club in Tallinn where he played with his Finnish bänd Die Amor. I clearly remember his, well, quite drunken, but yet happy state, when I handed him their gig money after the show – he took it from me with his left hand and smoothly gave all of it to the barman with his left hand (with a widest smile upon his bearded face). When we needed a new drummer 6 months later then I instantly remembered him and that way there is one Finnish guy in a band with four Estonians.

 Does the metalscene differs in those contries?

- In the underground (let’s be honest to ourselves) where we reside – not much. You have to work your ass of to get to a level to be accepted in the lovin bosom of the local scene. And then do it over and over again. And maybe you’ll get somewhere. Just maybe. But we all keep on getting there, don’t we?

- We love groove metal but as heavy and fast as possible. Of course all the members listen music from jazz to black metal but in powerful groove metal we have found the link connecting us. The most important, of course, is the vibe – there has to be good vibe on and off stage withi the band both musically and emotionally and that we have.

Have the band line-up been Intact since the start?

- No, we have changed the original drummer and guitarist. We grew up as a band a bit and understood that to get what we want out of this band is easier with the people we have in the band right now. Easy going but yet determined. Without determination you don’t survive as an underground band. And everyone start from the „ug“.

How did it all begin?

- All the members have had different paths. Some have done bands for 15+ years, some less, some have gone to music schools, some haven’t, some are family people and some still go to school. We were all strangers before we met for some reason to become Intact.

March 24, you will share stage with methane at Lilla Helvetet in Mora.. What extraordinary liveritual can the audience expect?

- We don’t do any show with a "discount“. We mosh hard, shread furiously, scream like hell an beat the shit out of the drums. Mostly we come to have fun and try to make the audience just the same.

Worst tour memory?

- For me it’s when I went in the crowd to get the circle pit going during a festival in Lithuania. That done I returned to the stage, puked hard behind the guitar cab and continued to sing and mosh with a really hard headache. For Intact it must be the 6 hours spent in the Helsinki harbour beside a broken down car wandering if me’ll make it to the next gig or not.

Best tour memory?

- Last year’s Hard Rock Laager (the biggest metal event/festival of the year in Estonia) where we had a really bad ass crowd in front of the stage. But all the tours themselves are something you just want to keep on doing.

Most diffifcult song to perform live? Have you ever forgot any riffs or so?

- Of course we have and the hardest are the new ones.

What do you Always bring to show/tour?

- Well, clothes, instruments, booze, a wide smile.

Major Influence to your musical style?

- We sound like a mixture of Pantera, Lamb Of God, Symphony X, Gojira, Black Label Society, Killswitch Enngage

Any final Words?

- We are really looking forward to mosh with Sweadish metal heads. Come to mosh with us on the 24th of March at Mora!
